LEOMECH Forest Skidding Winch is specially designed for hauling felled timber out of forest areas. It consists of a welded main frame, drive assembly, wire rope drum, clutch, brake unit and directional pulley. By means of the steel wire rope, logs are towed to the moldboard and fastened with forestry chains onto the grooves of the winch frame. The timber can then be transported to accessible locations for further haulage by other vehicles.

REQUIRED TRACTOR EQUIPMENT

  • PTO shaft with matched gear ratio, rated at a maximum speed of 540 RPM.
  • Category I three-point hitch.
  • Maximum rotational speed and standard rotation direction of the tractor PTO shaft: 540 rpm/min.

PTO SHAFT ADJUSTMENT

The PTO shaft length must be adjusted to fit different tractor models. Follow the steps below to set the correct length:
  1. Shut off the tractor engine completely.
  2. Connect the winch to the tractor three-point hitch.
  3. Separate the PTO shaft into two halves, mount each half to the tractor and the winch respectively, align them crosswise and mark the proper length.
  4. Cut the outer and inner plastic protective pipes to the marked length.
  5. Trim the outer and inner sliding profiles by the same margin as the plastic pipes (see Figure F3).
  6. Deburr the cut pipe ends, clear away metal filings, and fully lubricate all sliding parts.

TRACTOR MOUNTING

Never stand within the hazardous operating area while mounting or connecting the winch.
This forestry winch is compatible with all tractors fitted with a Category I three-point hitch. Its optimized structure also allows easy mounting on tractors equipped with automatic coupling rods. Install the specified PTO shaft and secure the universal joint protective cover with a suspension chain.
Ensure the universal joint locks firmly into place at both connection ends.
After mounting the winch on the tractor, fasten the stabilizers on the lower linkage rods. Adjust the hitch leveling nut to tilt the winch backward by approximately 20°.

WIRE ROPE UNWINDING & REWINDING

Prior to first use, fully unwind the entire steel wire rope, then rewind it onto the drum under proper load tension.
A recommended method: fasten the rope to a fixed standing tree, then drive the tractor slowly toward the tree with slight braking applied.
This procedure is also required before subsequent skidding operations, especially after downhill skidding or whenever the rope is loosely wound on the drum.
